Project Pocean

POCEAN is a social entrepreneurship project organised by a group of passionate King’s College London and National University of Singapore students supported by Enactus UK and the Social Impact Catalyst SG.
This project was started to combat the ocean plastic crisis, which has been, in no small part, exacerbated by Covid-19.We have have launched our POCEAN brand eco-friendly alternative to surgical masks with effective protective capabilities: Abaca fibre masks. These Abaca fibre masks are biodegradable, washable, and reusable for up to 4 months. We also have launched tote bags.We are reasearching and devleoping our next line of products.
100% of our profits will be invested in the sustainable operation of our project and a Seabin fundraiser drive. A Seabin is a device that will skim and collect garbage floating on the surface of the ocean. We have succesfully purchased and intstalled a Seabin with our profits in Philiphines. Our suppliers are thee local artisans and farmers in the province of Bicol, who would otherwise be unemployed if not for their production of these masks. A portion of each mask bought from them not only supports these farmers and artisans, but also goes towards a drive towards access to education for students of the Dumagat Tribe.
